6 Reasons You Need To Know Who You Are - Niche

nicheNo, I’m not talking about why you exist on the planet. I’m talking about why your company exists. Too often we start a company because we have an idea. You might have done this yourself. When you first started you might even have thought for a little about what your reason for starting was. I bet that after a while you forgot all about this and just concentrated on getting stuff out the door.

With a reason you can get others to come along for the ride.

Who Hates Your Product?

apple vs android vs windows resized 600Don’t you think that’s a funny question to ask?  Why would I want to know who hates your product?  It’s one of the key questions to ask if you think having a strong niche business is important.  If you’ve read this blog for any period of time you know that I’m going to find new ways for you to decide you need to be a niche company.

Are You Interesting?

interesting resized 600Don’t you think this is a pretty good question?  Here’s another one for you, is your company interesting?  If you can’t answer yes to both why would someone want to do business with you?

Interesting can mean different, and it can mean others want to learn more about you.  I believe one of your goals should be to have people want to spend more time with you.  That’s the result interesting people get.

What Makes A Great Tribe?

TRIBE resized 600I often write about the concept of tribes.  You might call it a community.  I like the term tribe better because it brings an image in my mind of a group of people moving in a particular direction.

Who Do You Say No To? - Coaching

say no nicely resized 600One of my favorite blog writers is Chris Lema.  He has recently done a few blog entries on the topic of saying no.  Little did Chris know that the word no is one of my favorite words.  One of my other favorite phrases is not yet.  This isn’t because I’m a negative person, it’s because I like to focus on what I think is important and not what someone else is trying to make me believe is important.

Start with the question why?

Value Billing Works Better With Niches

valuebilling resized 600I’m a big fan of value billing.  This is where I bill for a project.  You know what you’re going to pay and I know what you’re going to pay.  My incentive with value billing is to produce the best work I can in the least amount of time.

You get to decide whether the price I’m proposing is fair and if you’re going to get an adequate return on your investment.  Value billing allows you know the price up front.  You won’t have to wonder how many hours I’m spending or whether I’m learning at your expense.

Want To Create Personal Capacity? Develop A Niche

niche resized 600I’m a nicheaholic.  I live and breathe niches and think you should also.  If you’re feeling that you don’t have enough time to do what you need to do then think about developing and using a niche.

If you develop a niche for yourself, I can promise you one thing: You’ll gain a few hours a day.  The reason behind this is not a big secret.  When you only work within a niche you become an expert at what you’re doing.  Experts do things much more quickly than those who are just learning.  When you develop a niche you’ll be finding yourself some free time.

Community Building and Why It’s Important for You

business tribe niche resized 600I’m involved in an online writing class.  This class has become much more than being about writing.  It has put together a diverse group of people.  We come from different ages, businesses, business experiences, and expectations.  We’ve also become a group of people who have learned to trust and respect each other; a tribe of sorts.

You might ask how did this happen?  You might even be very skeptical that an online writing class can get to the point where many of us go way out of our way to help others.
