Post Retirement Planning

You’ve enjoyed  a long career and you’ve worked very hard. And now it’s time for retirement.  We find that post-retirement planning often has several components, the first being making certain  that you have enough cash to maintain a comfortable lifestyle during your retirement years.

After you determine that you will have enough cash for the rest of your life, we can help you understand, and move to, other aspects of planning that many people concern themselves with in post-retirement.   If you’re unsure  about yourability to turn your assets into enough needed cash, we believe it’s important to work on this issue first. Then you can move to other issues often faced in this phase of work with our Clients.

Our goal in working with you on  post-retirement planning is to help make your life better.  This means that we want to help you understand  there is a high probability you won’t run out of money before you run out of your life.

Once you are comfortable with your cash position, we will  turn to  other aspects of planning for those who have reached retirement.  Some of these issues are:

  • Asset protection planning for those in retirement.
  • Investment management for turning assets into cash.
  • Retirement distribution planning.
  • Legacy planning for you and your family.
  • Estate tax planning.
  • Asset transfer to younger generations.
  • Planning for medical emergencies.
  • Working with attorneys to make sure your medical wishes are carried out
  • Travel planning and budgeting while in retirement.
  • Choosing a state to call your home.
  • Planning for transfer of art, antiques, and collectables you may have accumulated.
  • Education planning for grandchildren.

It’s important for you to stay in control of the planning process.  We believe there is a significant difference between what you should do and what you want to do.  Some of the things you should do may not be important.  Our belief is that you should work on things you believe are important.  Those will often be the things that are accomplished.

We will talk with you about the planning we believe is important.  We also understand the final decision on all planning is yours.
